About Me
My name is Rena Kawabata, and I play ultimate frisbee for Molly Brown based in Denver, CO. I'm living in Seattle, WA and am originally from Vancouver, BC.

I had ACL and posterolateral corner surgery on my left knee in 2015, came back to play on the World Games team for Canada in 2017, and have played at the top levels of my sport ever since.

On July 27th 2019, I tore my ACL and medial meniscus in my right knee, something I thought I'd never have to go through again. I'm writing about my surgery and recovery mostly for my own catharsis, but also to tell my story, to share my pain, and to show my resilience.

I care deeply about equity in ultimate and creating an anti-racist, liberated, feminist version of the sport so that more people feel welcome and included. I will probably talk a lot about that too. Hope you can find something here.
